Musculoskeletal Service

The new Musculoskeletal Service (MSK) for the NHS provided by Hampshire Health began  accepting patient referrals from  local  GPs from  20th April 2009.

The MSK Service accepts all usual musculoskeletal/orthopaedic referrals for adults over 18 years of age. Capacity in the Service provides for up to 12000 referrals per year and we provide this service from three local sites: Aldershot Centre for Health, Chase Community Hospital Bordon and  Dickson House, Crown Heights in the centre of Basingstoke.

The Service triages all referrals to the most appropriate clinician, be that physiotherapist, GPwSI or consultant and there is access to investigations where appropriate.

The introduction of the Hampshire Health Musculoskeletal Service to our area is a unique opportunity to improve the care of our patients with musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions that an equate to around a third of GP consultations. It gives us the potential to provide the ideal of the right patient receiving the right treatment from the right professional in appropriate clinical surroundings that are local to the patient, with reduced waiting times and  an improved, streamlined patient experience.
